On the Origin of Species is a column written by George Hutcheon and published exclusively on Bulbanews. It provides insight on the cultural and zoological origins of Pokémon species. Issues focus on either a single Pokémon's origins or the origins of multiple Pokémon connected in an evolutionary family.
The column began its first run on April 18, 2010, and editions were published regularly at the beginning of each week for six months. Two issues regarding Pokémon from Pokémon Black and White were published in March 2011. Twenty-seven columns have been published.
Due to the author's other commitments, this column is currently on hiatus.
