It was announced today shortly before the airing the latest episode that the Pokémon Anime would cease production for the foreseeable future, following the declaration of a state of emergency and extreme social distancing measures in Japan due to the worldwide Coronavirus pandemic.

The current series, the seventh overall, had been due to air it's 23rd episode next week however the show will now begin airing reruns until further notice. This is the first hiatus for the show since the infamous Electric Soldier Porygon incident in 1997.
