The Version 1.2 patch for Pokémon X and Y has been released, which fixes several glitches and increases security in online communications. Players cannot connect to the internet with Pokémon X or Y until they download the patch; also, the patch cannot be downloaded unless the player has the latest version of the 3DS firmware. Additionally, Rating Battles are now enabled again.

The patch fixes the Wonder Trade evolution learnset glitch, which caused moves learned by Pokémon that evolved by trading through Wonder Trade to not keep any moves learnt upon evolution. The patch also fixes an issue where the tagline could not be seen in Trainer PR Videos.

Furthermore, Wi-Fi communications now have additional encryption, which prevents several fan-made exploits that had taken advantage of the previously less secure communication.
