Seeing an Arcanine, May, begins to chase it, but runs into her rival, Drew, who is also pursuing the legendary Pokémon. A competition ensues to see who can reach Arcanine first.
Neither May nor Drew ended up capturing Arcanine, who had Growlithe puppies to which it was tending.
Also, it was revealed that Drew already has one Kanto ribbon, and will not be competing against May in the upcoming Saffron City Contest.
