Masuda has been with the Pokémon Company since the very beginning.

Game Director Junichi Masuda is scheduled to appear on the next episode of Pokémon Smash! to make an announcement. Due to the nature of some of his past announcements, fans have speculated the announcement to be of a new game, among many others. This episode of Pokémon Smash! airs the same date as the first anniversary of Pokémon Black and White—Sept. 18.

Pokémon Smash! is set to air part of Mewtwo Returns next week. With that fact, as well as some hints from the most recent episode of the show, which aired today, a distribution event featuring Mewtwo is expected to be announced. Mewtwo has recently been heavily featured in advertisements for the TCG expansion Psycho Drive, set to be released Sept. 16 alongside Hail Blizzard, which features Kyurem.

Junichi Masuda previously made the revelation of the Generation V Pokémon Zorua and Zoroark on Pokémon Smash!. As part of the group MTM, he has also been featured on the show performing the song battle gene M with the singer battle woman M. The group performed the song live during the 2011 Pokémon World Championships and also during a Pokémon Smash!-related event held last Sept. 4.
