October 12 sees the launch of Pokémon X and Y across the world - a first for the franchise. However, this doesn't mean that The Pokémon Company are willing to let go of the Generation V games just yet, as The Pokémon Company International has confirmed that, leading up to the release of the franchise's first 3DS main series pair, owners of the current generation games in the United States and the Europe will be able to download three special shiny legendary Pokémon - Dialga, Palkia and Giratina!

In the United States, this event will be exclusive to GameStop stores, with Dialga being distributed to owners of Pokémon Black and White and Pokémon Black Version 2 and White Version 2 between August 19th and September 8th, with Palkia following on September 9th until September 29th. The event will then finish with Giratina's distribution, which will be from 30th September until 20th October.

UK customers who pre-order Pokémon X or Pokémon Y from GAME will receive this 3DS game card holder

In the United Kingdom, the event will be exclusive to GAME stores, with Dialga's distribution starting on August 30th and ending on September 12th before Palkia is distributed between September 13th and September 26th, then finishing off with Giratina from September 27th until October 11th. GAME also clarified on Twitter that the downloads are free of charge, with no pre-order required to download them. In related news, GAME also revealed that customers who pre-order Pokémon X and Pokémon Y from the retailer will receive a small Pokéball shaped 3DS card case.

The event has also been confirmed on the official French, German, Italian and Spanish Pokémon websites, but no retailer has been confirmed for those regions.
