Arceus

The official Pokémon site officially revealed today the Alpha Pokémon Arceus. Although fans have known about Arceus since the release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, it had not been officially announced until last Feb. 14 to the Japanese public.

The site mentions basic information about Arceus, such as its height and weight. Its ability remains hidden though. The site also briefly mentions Arceus having an appearance in the twelfth movie and a future the Trading Card Game expansion.

The other event-only Pokémon for the Generation IV games Diamond, Pearl and Platinum were previously announced after appearing in several ways on the official site. Manaphy's egg appeared while Darkrai and Shaymin appeared as shadows. Arceus is the first among these Pokémon to be announced without going through this method.

Arceus is the 493rd Pokémon in the National Pokédex. It has been distributed to players of the Japanese versions of Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum since last July 18. The distribution ends on Sept. 30. The Azure Flute, the key item that grants access to the Hall of Origin, has never been distributed.
