During the second Pokémon Direct, they revealed among other things, three more Mega Evolutions. The player was shown as having to wear a bracelet described as a Mega Ring. This ring holds a Key Stone that corresponds with the Pokémon's Mega Stone. When the trainer's bond is strong enough, they can get their Pokémon to Mega Evolve.
The Pokémon revealed were the three Kanto starters, Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur. All three Pokémon retain their original type during the Mega Evolution.
Mega Venusaur will have the Ability Thick Fat. Mega Charizard gains Drought as its Ability. Mega Blastoise gains the Mega Launcher Ability, which increases the power on moves like Water Pulse and Dark Pulse.
These three join the already announced Mega Pokémon of Lucario, Mewtwo, Kangaskhan, Ampharous, Blaziken, Mawile and Absol.

More secrets about Mega Evolution were also revealed today. It was previously announced that certain Pokémon needed to hold a unique Mega Stone in order to Mega Evolve, but now it’s known that there is a second requirement players must fulfill for Mega Evolution to occur. Trainers must also obtain a bracelet called the Mega Ring that holds a mysterious stone called a Key Stone. The Trainer’s Key Stone resonates with the Mega Stone held by his or her Pokémon, and together they trigger the Evolution that is normally impossible—Mega Evolution. ” | ||
