It was announced that the 2011 Pokemon World Championships, an invitation-only championship event staged by Play! Pokemon to conclude the 2010-11 playing cycle in the Trading Card Game and Video Game categories will return to San Diego, California in August of the forthcoming year. The dates will be announced by The Pokemon Company International later this month, and will be tied into formal celebrations of the fifteenth anniversary of the founding of the franchise with the Red and Blue (Green) video games released in Japan in 1996.
