Play! Pokémon has announced that the 2014 Modified format of the Pokémon Trading Card Game will be Next Destinies-on. Only Black Star Promo Cards BW33 and higher will be permitted.

While the 2014 season officially started on July 9, 2013, the new Modified format will officially be put in place on August 28, 2013. As such, the 2013 World Championships will still use the 2013 Modified format.

In addition, in the 2015 season (which begins in late 2014), a new format which uses all card from Black & White on will be available to players. More information on this new format will be revealed towards the end of the 2014 season.

• Black & White—Next Destinies
• Black & White—Dark Explorers
• Black & White—Dragons Exalted
• Dragon Vault
• Black & White—Boundaries Crossed
• Black & White—Plasma Storm
• Black & White—Plasma Freeze
• Black & White—Plasma Blast
• Black Star Promo cards BW33 and higher
• McDonald's Collection 2012

Additional expansions become legal when they are released to the market.
