Starting today, Bulbanews will be holding a staff drive to recruit people for a number of new positions. Bulbanews is staffed strictly by community volunteers, and it's only with the continued assistance of people like you that we can continue to provide quality up-to-date information for all areas of the fandom. Interested users should use this form on the Bulbagarden Forums to apply. The following positions are currently open for applicants. Users may apply to one or multiple positions as they desire.

Columnist

Columnists write columns about different topics of interest to themselves and to the public. Some examples of Bulbanews columns include On the Origin of Species, Crunching the Numbers, and Looking Forward. It is preferred that applicants have some previous writing experience. Columnists will also be able to write news articles if they desire. Interested applicants should present a topic and schedule of how frequent they want the column to be, and a brief example of their writing.

Writer

Writers write news articles pertaining to a variety of different news areas. Previous writing experience is not necessary for this position, though would be a significant advantage. Writers may contribute articles on any news area that they wish. Bulbanews reports on the following news areas.

  • Main-series Pokémon games: This is one of the larger areas of news, which includes new games, new info on games, and sales.
  • Pokémon event distributions: This news area covers event distributions around the world.
  • Pokémon merchandise: This news area covers all sorts of merchandise news around the world. This area is highly seeking new interested writer applicants.
  • International news: This news area is a focus on news from various countries around the world. No country is left out when it comes to news reporting.
  • Spinoff Pokémon games: This news area covers Pokémon games that are different from the Main-series games.
  • Pokémon TCG: This news area covers Pokémon TCG news, which includes the online Trading Card Game. This area is highly seeking new interested writer applicants.
  • Pokémon tournaments and competitions: This news area covers local and international tournaments held via Wi-Fi and on location. It also includes the Video Games and TCG Championship series.
  • Pokémon Tretta: This news area covers news on Pokémon Tretta. This area is highly seeking new interested writer applicants.
  • Pokémon Anime: This news area covers worldwide anime news, such as new episodes, DVDs, Blu-ray, sales, movie releases, and CDs.
  • Pokémon Manga: This news area covers worldwide manga news. This area is highly seeking new interested writer applicants.
  • General Nintendo news: This news area covers general news in regards to Nintendo.
  • Pokémon fandom/community: This news area covers news pertaining to local Pokémon communities.
  • Japanese news: This news area focuses on news for those that live in Japan or have a Japanese 3DS and games.
  • Monthly news recaps: Once a month, there will be an article that will be a reminder of the news that was covered throughout the month. It will also contain reminders of upcoming events and dates that were previously mentioned in articles.

Bulbanews are looking for applicants who can speak and/or read languages other than English. The most sought after languages are: Japanese, Chinese, Korean, German, Russian, Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, and French. Other languages of different countries that have Pokémon communities are also welcome.

News Researcher

A new position offered by Bulbanews in this staff drive. News Researchers assist the Writers and Translators by gathering news from various sources, and summarizing this information for the Writers so that they can produce full news articles. Researchers may occasionally be called on to assist in writing brief summary or placeholder articles for Bulbanews for breaking news events. Skill in languages other than English would be an advantage but is not a requirement of the position.

Bulbanews Developer

A new position offered by Bulbanews in this staff drive. Bulbanews Developers will help in to making improvements to the style and layout of Bulbanews. Wiki template coding knowledge and experience is essential.
