At the first annual Seiyu Awards (声優アワード), the Pokémon anime was awarded the synergy award (シナジー賞).

The Pocket Monsters animated series, which started in April 1997, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year. It has broken box-office records with a total gross of ¥41.4 billion (US$353 million) over nine movies. It furthermore has high ratings overseas, and the television series is broadcast in 68 countries and two regions worldwide as of May 2006. As a production which changed the history of Japanese animation, we give the synergy award to the voice cast that has supported it to this date.

However, nominees Shin'ichirō Miki (三木眞一郎), nominated Best Lead Actor for his role in Super Robot Wars OG: Divine Wars (スーパーロボット大戦OG -ディバイン・ウォーズ-), Megumi Toyoguchi (豊口めぐみ), nominated Best Supporting Actress for her role as Hikari (ヒカリ) and Megumi Hayashibara (林原めぐみ), nominated Best Personality, have all failed to win their respective awards.
