According to NGCFrance.com, Japanese retailers are reporting a shortage in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, the newest Pokémon games released today for the Nintendo DS. The two million copies distributed to stores are nearly sold out, and 500,000 DS Lites were sold around the country within hours.

By comparison, Nintendogs, the current Nintendo DS best-seller, sold 168,000 units its first week in Japan. Stores sold 95,000 DS systems that week.
