Niantic is working with Playmob and local NGOs (or non-governmental organizations), having been inspired by Mission Blue, to host cleanup events around the world. This is to promote Earth Day through gaming.

These cleanup events will involve picking up litter and cleaning natural areas alongside other community helpers and Pokémon GO players for 48 hours.

  • 1,500 players cleaning up litter:
  • 3,000 players cleaning up litter:
    • Unlock 3x Stardust when catching Ground, Water, and Grass-type Pokémon.

Niantic and TPC will also be making a financial contribution to Mission Blue as well.
