Apple has removed a fake $0.99 Pokémon Yellow app developed by House of Anime, alongside an app known as Pokémon Pocket Edition, released in the Apple App Store.

The Pokémon Company International has since then released the following statement regarding these games, which were able to slip through the App Store's approval system:

We continue to combat the unauthorised release of games, applications and merchandise that trick our fans into purchasing something that does not meet our quality standards.

Fans who encounter questionable products should report to us immediately so we can keep other fans from falling victim to these scams.

  -- The Pokémon Company International

The Pokémon Yellow app, over the course of its availability, quickly reached the #2 highest paid app in the App Store and had a two-star rating. Upon using the app, however, it would display a picture of Ash Ketchum, Pikachu, and Charizard, among other Pokémon, and would crash right after. The app also shows a picture of Ash with his Pokémon, as well as a picture of a Raichu fighting a Seel from Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen. Upon further investigation, it was found out that the app merely provided Pokémon news feeds and YouTube videos.

Those who purchased the app may request a refund through the Purchase History section of iTunes.
