{{bp|Junichi Masuda}}, one of the founding members of {{bp|GameFreak}} and the current Director of the Board, is scheduled to appear on the {{bp|Pokémon Smash}} variety show next sunday to make a "shock announcement".

Game Director {{bp|Junichi Masuda}} is scheduled to appear on the next episode of {{bp|Pokémon Smash!}} to make an announcement. Due to the nature of some of his past announcements, fans have speculated the announcement to be of a new game, among many others. This episode of ''Pokémon Smash!'' airs the same date as the first anniversary of {{game|Black and White|s}}—Sept. 18.


It is possible that this announcement may be a new game, as {{bp|The Pokémon Company}} CEO {{bp|Tsunekazu Ishihara}} did state earlier this year that there are more surprises coming this year, and Nintendo are having a 3DS-related press conference on the 13th.
''Pokémon Smash!'' is set to air part of {{bp|Mewtwo Returns}} next week. With that fact, as well as some hints from the most recent episode of the show, which aired today, a distribution event featuring {{p|Mewtwo}} is expected to be announced. Mewtwo has recently been heavily featured in advertisements for the TCG expansion {{bp|Psycho Drive/Hail Blizzard (TCG)|Psycho Drive}}, set to be released Sept. 16 alongside ''Hail Blizzard'', which features {{p|Kyurem}}<!--this is not speculating a third Gen V game. this just happens to be the case-->.


However, it is also possible that this might be the official reveal of the {{bp|Mythical Pokémon}} {{bp|Keldeo}}; as this appearance is on the first anniversary of {{bp|Pokémon Black and White Versions}}' release, which had the {{bp|Liberty Pass}} which allowed a player to capture {{bp|Victini}} available from launch.
Junichi Masuda previously made the revelation of the {{bp|Generation V}} Pokémon {{p|Zorua}} and {{p|Zoroark}} on ''Pokémon Smash!''. As part of the group MTM, he has also been featured on the show performing the song {{bp|battle gene M|battle gene M}} with the singer battle woman M. The group performed the song live during the 2011 Pokémon World Championships and also during a ''Pokémon Smash!''-related event held last Sept. 4.
