Mewtwo will be available in Pokémon GO via the newly announced Exclusive Raid Battle mechanic.

Exclusive Raid Battles are a special kind of Raid Battle which players are invited to. In order to receive an invitation to participate in an Exclusive Raid Battle, the player must have successfully completed a Raid Battle (i.e. defeated the Raid Boss) in the previous few weeks at that same Gym where the Exclusive Raid Battle will occur. The invitations will include advance warning of when the Exclusive Raid will take place. These Raid Battles will use Raid Eggs, which stopped appearing in Pokémon GO after Legendary Pokémon were introduced.

Mewtwo will be the first Pokémon to appear in Exclusive Raid Battles, but other powerful Pokémon may also start to hatch from Exclusive Raid Battles' Raid Eggs over the next several weeks.

Mewtwo was first made available in Pokémon GO on August 14 at the Pokémon GO Stadium event held in Yokohama, Japan. Exclusive Raid Battles will be the first time Mewtwo is available outside of this event.
