During Nintendo Direct, the second UStream Nintendo has done for Pokémon XY, they revealed among other things, three more Mega Evolutions. The player was described as having to wear a bracelet a described as a mega ring. This ring holds a key stone that corresponds with the Pokémon's Mega Stone and when the trainer's bond is strong enough they can get their Pokémon to Mega Evolve.

The Pokémon revealed were the three Kanto starters, Charizard, Blastoise and Venusaur. All three Pokémon retain their original type during the Mega Evolution.

Mega Venusaur will have the ability Thick Fat. Mega Charizard gains Drought as its ability. Mega Blastoise gains the Mega Launcher ability, which increases the power on moves like Water Pulse and Dark Pulse.

These three join the already announced Mega Pokémon of Lucario, Mewtwo, Kangaskhan, Ampharous, Blaziken, Mawile and Absol.
