More Pokémon Sword and Shield news has been announced in a new trailer. It details more information about the Dynamax feature, new Gym Leaders, new characters, and three new Pokémon.
Rolycoly is a new Rock-type Pokémon. It has the Abilities Steam Engine and Heatproof.
Alcremie is a new Fairy-type Pokémon. It has the Ability Sweet Veil.
Duraludon is a new Steel/Dragon-type Pokémon. It has the Abilities Light Metal and Heavy Metal.
Yamper is a new Electric-type Pokémon. It has the Ability Ball Fetch. While it was seen in the demo, which has been playable at several events, it has not been officially promoted until now.
Chairman Rose is the chairman of the Galar Pokémon League and the president of a large business conglomerate. He made the Galar Pokémon League famous by implementing Gym Battles featuring the Dynamax phenomenon.
Oleana is Chairman Rose's secretary. She is also the vice president of Rose's company and is largely in charge of its day-to-day running.
In Pokémon Sword and Shield, the Gym Leaders the player fights differ between games. Bea is a Fighting-type expert who appears as a Gym Leader in Pokémon Sword. Allister is a Ghost-type expert who appears as a Gym Leader in Pokémon Shield.
Certain species of Pokémon can perform a special kind of Dynamaxing known as Gigantamaxing. Gigantamax change in size and appearance. However, even among species which can Gigantamax, only certain individuals are able to do so. Pokémon capable of Gigantamaxing can be caught in Max Raid Battles, but are said to be very rare.
Gigantamax Pokémon have increased stats and access to a G-Max Move unique to their species. Regular Dynamax Pokémon cannot use G-Max Moves.
Special Drednaw can Gigantamax. As Gigantamax Drednaw, all of Drednaw's Water-type moves become the G-Max Move G-Max Stonesurge. G-Max Stonesurge deals damage, and also scatters sharp rocks around the opponent that damage Pokémon entering the battlefield.
Special Corviknight can Gigantamax. As Gigantamax Corviknight, all of Corviknight's Flying-type moves become the G-Max Move G-Max Wind Rage. G-Max Wind Rage deals damage, and also removes the effects of Reflect, Light Screen, Spikes, and Electric Terrain from the opponent.
Special Alcremie can Gigantamax. As Gigantamax Alcremie, all of Alcremie's Fairy-type moves become the G-Max Move G-Max Finale. G-Max Finale deals damage, and also heals all of the user's allies.
