Bellevue, WA — September 27, 2010 — Kicking off what promises to be a banner year for its global fanbase, The Pokémon™ Company International announced today the upcoming 14th season of the popular children’s animated series (name TBA), which is slated for a worldwide television debut in 2011. In addition to the new season, the 13th film in the Pokémon franchise (name TBA) will premiere in 2011, featuring two new characters in the highly anticipated spring 2011 international launch of Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version video games for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems. The video games recently broke a sales record, becoming the fastest selling DS games ever in Japan over the first week of launch, totaling 2.55 million units.

Reshiram, a new Pokémon

The latest version of the Pokémon animated series, Pokémon: DP Sinnoh League Victors, currently airs in the United States on Cartoon Network and is available for global television distribution. This season concludes the Pokémon Diamond & Pearl story arc and will be followed by an exciting new era of Pokémon programming next year. The launch of the 14th season will introduce fans to a generation of never-before-seen Pokémon characters featured in a thrilling new storyline and set in a brand new region based on the Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version video games.

“Pokémon animation has never been stronger and will play an integral role in what will be a blockbuster year for the Pokémon brand in 2011,” said J.C. Representatives from The Pokémon Company International are attending MIPCOM to meet with existing media partners and to discuss opportunities with potential new collaborators as the company launches an exciting new chapter of Pokémon entertainment for its worldwide audience.

The strength of the evergreen Pokémon brand spans across all three of its main pillars; from over 200 million video games sold worldwide since its launch in 1996, to animation licensed for broadcast in more than 150 countries and in over 30 languages, and more than 15 billion Pokémon TCG cards produced, making it one of the most successful global children’s entertainment franchises of all time.
