Anime News Network have reported that fliers and posters at the recent "Jisedai World Hobby Fair Winter 2011" have revealed that a new Pokémon manga is to start in Shogakukan's acclaimed "Weekly Shonen Sunday" Manga anthology magazine in Japan. This manga is set to be more mature than previous titles, aiming at the older audience. This fits with statements given by GameFreak before the launch of Pokémon Black and White Versions, where they revealed that the games were made with the older audience in mind, as well as that of the younger.

Some of the titles that have ran in Weekly Shonen Sunday include "The World Only God Knows", "Detective Conan" (known as "Case Closed" outside of Japan), "Hayate the Combat Butler" and "InuYasha".

Previous Pokémon manga, such as Pokémon Adventures have ran in Shogakukan's Monthly CoroCoro Comic, aiming at a younger audience.
