Following the success of Ingress and Pokémon GO, Niantic has announced a new augmented reality game titled Harry Potter: Wizards Unite featuring the Harry Potter franchise. It is scheduled to be released in 2018.

As with their previous AR titles, the game will encourage exploration, exercise, and real-world social interaction. In particular, it will include learning real spells, hunting legendary beasts, and toppling powerful enemies.

The game will be developed in cooperation with the San Francisco branch of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Niantic hopes to use the venture to pioneer new technology within the game, as well as to help players capture the feel of J.K. Rowling's wizarding world in new ways.
