The official Nintendo site has added notices next to all the colors of the Nintendo 3DS XL, stating either that production will soon cease or that it already has ceased.
The models Mint×White, Blue×Black, Pink×White, Silver×Black, and White will have their production discontinued in the near future. The models Black and Red×Black have already been discontinued.
This has likely been done so that Nintendo can instead focus on producing the New Nintendo 3DS XL models, and so that consumers who wish to purchase a Nintendo 3DS system with larger screens will purchase the New Nintendo 3DS XL.
