Nintendo Co., Ltd. has released an official statement announcing plans to release a new handheld console, tentatively titled the Nintendo 3DS. The new console is said to produce 3D effects without the need for glasses, as well as being backwards compatible with the current library of Nintendo DS and DSi titles. Further details are set to be revealed at this year's E3, which will be held from June 15th to the 17th.
