Nintendo has plans to release an app for the iTunes and Android markets in Japan, it was announced last week. Pokémon Say Tap (ポケモン言えTAP Pokémon Iie Tap), a TCG-based game, will be available for free download this summer.

The game is rhythm-based: players tap on trading cards in time with music and sounds. One known backing track is Can You Name All the Pokémon? BW, the current ending theme of the Pokémon anime.

At its release, this will be the only official Pokémon game playable on portable hardware that is not on a Nintendo-produced console. It is also the first Nintendo-endorsed app for smartphones.
