This action may probably be due to the Japanese release of Pokémon Black and White, which takes place Sept. 18. The new pair of games involves features that allow players to play their games on their computers through features like Dream World, where players may obtain Pokémon that have unusual features, such as having abilities they may not normally have. These features can be used on a new website known as Pokémon Global Link.

The site was put up back in 2007, the year the first Generation IV games, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, were first released outside Japan. Among other features, the site allows players all over the world to view statistics of Pokémon traded over the Global Trade Station, such as which Pokémon was sought after the most in a particular week. Prior to the release of Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, the site used the Generation II artwork of certain Pokémon. It is quite interesting to note that to this day, only the logos of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl are seen when the website first loads up, though the Platinum logo was there for a short period of time.
