Update:  An image of party hat Pikachu has been released.

Pikachu wearing a party hat will be available in Pokémon GO from Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. to March 6, 2017 at 1 p.m. (PST) to celebrate Pokémon Day. Pokémon Day, first named last year for the Pokémon 20th Anniversary, is the anniversary of the release of Pokémon Red and Green in Japan, Feb. 28.

All wild Pikachu encountered in Pokémon GO during this period will be wearing a party hat. Raichu evolved from party hat Pikachu will also be wearing a party hat. Pikachu will retain this hat even after the event ends.
