Typhlosion's new art

Like FireRed and LeafGreen brought about new art by Ken Sugimori of the 151 Pokémon introduced in Generation I, many long believed that remakes of Gold and Silver would bring about new Sugimori art of the 100 Pokémon introduced in Generation II. Their beliefs have now been verified.

Today, the Pokémon.co.jp Pokédex, which works similarly to its counterpart on the English site, updated the art of the Generation II Pokémon that was not updated for FireRed and LeafGreen. The new art now completes the transition of all 493 Pokémon to Sugimori's new art style, which was introduced in the official art from Ruby and Sapphire, and has continued up to the present.

The Bulbawiki network uses the art from the Japanese Pokédex for the Pokémon articles on Bulbapedia, featuring them prominently in the Pokémon infobox, itself redesigned somewhat recently in anticipation of the English release of Platinum. The new art will be uploaded to Bulbagarden Archives as soon as possible, while the old art will subsequently be preserved under a different filename as the Red and Blue artwork of the Generation I Pokémon has.
