Pokémon: Movies 1-3 Gold Edition

Pokémon: Movies 1-3 Gold Edition will be released on DVD and Blu-ray in Australia and New Zealand on July 5, 2017. This release includes the first three Pokémon movies and their corresponding Pikachu shorts.

This product will include four discs and has DigiPack packaging. The included anime will be the English dub. The DVD release will be DVD Region 4 and the Blu-ray release will be Blu-ray Region B, and both releases are PAL.

While the DVD release will be broadly available, the Blu-ray release will be exclusive to JB Hi-Fi. PokeCollection will hold giveaways of both in the future, although no further details about this have been announced.

Specifically, it includes the movies Mewtwo Strikes Back, The Power of One, and Spell of the Unown: Entei; and the Pikachu shorts Pikachu's Vacation, Pikachu's Rescue Adventure, and Pikachu & Pichu.

While these Pikachu shorts were included on the out-of-print Warner Bros. releases of the first three movies in Australia and New Zealand in the early 2000s, they were not included on Beyond Home Entertainment's 2015 re-releases of these movies.

This marks the first release of Pikachu & Pichu anywhere since the Japanese version's narrator, Noriko Sakai, was disgraced in Japan by a drug scandal in 2009. The scandal resulted in the short not being released in any form for several years, with it notably being the only appropriate short missing from the 2012 Japanese Pokémon movie Blu-ray box set "Pikachu the Movie Premium Box 1998-2010".
