An unvisited PokéStop

A new update is available for Pokémon GO, which prepares the game for some upcoming new features announced recently. There are also several minor changes which take effect immediately. This update brings the game to version 0.67.1 for iOS and Android (labeled 1.37.1 on the App Store).

The game now indicates which PokéStops the player has not visited before. PokéStops will display a ring around them until the player spins its Photo Disc for the first time. Even after the player is able to spin the PokéStop again, the ring will not return. Visits to PokéStops prior to installing the update do not make a PokéStop count as being visited.

Nanab Berries will now be available to players starting at Level 4, rather than Level 14.

The update also adds a search feature to the Pokémon collection screen, allowing players to search for Pokémon by name (the game shows Pokémon whose nickname or species name contains the search term). The search bar also supports key terms: searching a type shows all Pokémon of that type, searching "Evolve" shows all Pokémon for which the player has sufficient items and Candy to evolve, searching "CP 200-500" or "HP 200-500" shows all Pokémon whose CP or HP is within that range respectively (inclusive), and searching "50-100" shows all Pokémon whose Pokédex number is between 50 and 100. Key terms are not searched as literal strings. It is possible to search for a union of key phrases by separating them with commas (e.g. "fire, evolve" displays all Pokémon that are Fire-type or can evolve).

Additionally, the game has been made able to support the new motivation-based Gym system and the new Raid Battle mechanic, added the Raid Battle-exclusive items, added the Gym Badge feature, and added support for Gyms sending push notifications. The type effectiveness and STAB multipliers have been modified for when battles become available again; super effective moves will now deal 1.4× damage (rather than 1.25×), not very effective moves will deal 0.714× (rather than 0.8×), type immunities will cause moves to deal 0.51× (rather than 0.8×), and STAB moves will now deal 1.2× (rather than 1.25×).
