The demo was previously made available worldwide throughout October and November via serial codes distributed through online promotions and local events.  The demo allows the player to transfer different items to {{bp|Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire}} as well as a {{bp|Glalie}} ({{bp|Steelix}} in the Japanese version) holding its respective {{bp|Mega Evolution|Mega Stone}} through {{bp|Pokémon Link}}.
