The Freemium game Pokémon Shuffle is now available for download on the European, Australian, and North American Nintendo 3DS eShops for free.

To celebrate the launch of Pokémon Shuffle, the Mythical Pokémon Mew can be encountered in Pokémon Shuffle for three weeks (until March 9, 2015). Upon completing this stage, the player will be rewarded with 1,000 Coins. This Mew is only a character in Pokémon Shuffle and cannot be transferred to the core series games.

Jewels

The game's microtransactions are focused around Jewels. Jewels can be obtained in game or purchased on the Nintendo eShop. Players under the age of 18 cannot spend more than a fixed amount on game per month (€100, £80, AU$150, NZ$150, or ¥10,000).

Each time the player plays a stage, a Heart is consumed; Hearts are replenished over time, or can be exchanged for Jewels. Additionally, each time the player clears a stage they will be awarded with a number of Coins based on their performance; Coins can be spent on items in-game.

Jewels can be exchanged for either Hearts or Coins (but only one at a time) at the following rates:

Jewels Hearts Coins
1 5 3000
3 18 10,000
6 38 22,000
12 80 48,000
