Nintendo of Australia has announced the Pokémon Video Game Regional Championships. Fans of both Australia and New Zealand will have the chance to compete against each other and continue on to the Pokémon Video Game Australian National Championships. Those who win in the National Championships win a ticket to compete in the World Championships to be held in Washington, D.C. on 16th to 17th August, 2014. The regional tournaments will be held in several cities between Saturday May 10 and Saturday May 31.

The dates for the regional tournaments are as follows:

Perth, Australia - Saturday 10th May
Adelaide, Australia - Sunday 11th May
Sydney, Australia - Saturday 17th May
Brisbane, Australia - Sunday 18th May
Melbourne, Australia - Saturday 24th May
Auckland, New Zealand - Saturday 31st May

The following age divisions apply:

Junior Division: Born in 2003 or later
Senior Division: Born in 1999 to 2002
Masters Division: Born in 1998 or earlier

Nintendo has a site where players can view the rules for all Pokémon Video Game tournaments. Further announcements will be put on the recently launched Facebook and Twitter pages.
