For the fifth week in a row, the eighth Pokémon movie, Mew and the Wave-Guiding Hero: Lucario, has retained its spot in the top three grossing movies in the Japanese box office.

By comparison, Pokémon's anime counterparts failed to have such staying power. The Naruto movie, which came in first place last week, fell to number six in its second week. The Fullmetal Alchemist movie also lost popularity, falling out of the top ten.

Beating out Pokémon were the American-made films Madagascar and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
