A poll on Pokémon.com lets users vote for one of the 493 Pokémon introduced prior to Generation V, with the winning Pokémon to be distributed around the world via the Global Link system.

The poll is called "Vote to Befriend a Pokemon" and the most popular Pokémon will be distributed in the Pokémon Dream World with its Hidden Ability if it has one. Preliminary results will be released every Tuesday, and the final results are scheduled to be tallied and announced on Dec. 13, 2011. The winning Pokémon will then be distributed from Feb. 1, 2012 until Feb. 29, 2012.

Unlike two previous polls that have picked Global Link event Pokémon, the winning Pokémon will be distributed outside of Japan and Korea. In the first Japanese poll, users picked Arceus. In the Korean poll, Rayquaza was selected. Another poll is currently ongoing in Japan, which allows users to pick between one of the main series version mascots.
