The Game Boy Color games Pokémon Gold and Silver will be released on Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in South Korea on September 22, 2017.

In June this year, it was announced that Pokémon Gold and Silver would be released on Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console in Japan, North America, Europe, Australia, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. However, they were not announced for a Korean release until now.

Pokémon Gold and Silver were the first core series Pokémon games to be released in Korean. After these games, Pokémon games were not released in Korean again until Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. This release will mark the first time a game has been released on the Virtual Console in Korean (in South Korea, Virtual Console games are normally released in English or Japanese).

The Virtual Console releases will be compatible with Pokémon Bank, which will allow the Pokémon to be transferred to Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

The Virtual Console releases will support communication via 3DS local wireless communications. They can communicate with other Virtual Console copies of Pokémon Gold and Silver.

The Time Capsule feature is officially unsupported in the Korean versions due to Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow never being released in South Korea (including on Virtual Console), so it is unlikely that these games will be compatible with the Virtual Console versions of the Generation I games.
