The Pokémon Company has announced on their website that they will be hosting a Wi-fi tournament through the Global Battle Union called the Pokémon Global Link Cup to be held Dec. 7 through Dec. 11. Registration is from Dec. 1 through Dec. 6, but is currently planning on only allowing the first 30,000 entrants. The tournament will only be available to those with Japanese versions of Pokémon Pokémon Black and White.

Additionally, on the Pokémon Global Link, a Zoroark C-Gear Skin will be available via a code from Famitsu, a Japanese video game magazine. The magazine issue with the code is set to be released Jan. 6, 2012.

In order to join the tournament, trainers not only need a Pokémon Global Link account, but they also must register with the Pokémon Daisuki Club, the Japanese equivalent to the Pokémon Trainer Club. Furthermore, all Pokémon in the National Pokédex can be used with the exceptions of Mewtwo, Mew, Lugia, Ho-oh, Deoxys, Jirachi, Celebi, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Diagla, Palkia, Giranta, Phione, Manaphy, Darkrai, Shaymin, Arceus, Victini, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyrumem. Still, this marks the first time since the release of Generation V that Pokémon has hosted a tournament where players can use Pokémon outside of the Unova Pokédex.

Players will be allowed six Pokémon in their Battle Box and select three to use for each battle. All battles will be single battles, with a level cap of 50.
