Nice Work

Hey guys, I'm not sure who designed the new front page format but I must say nice work with it. I like the picture of Bulbasaur. It reminds me more of Bulbagardens now. WolfMan of Light 19:10, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Possibility of Pokémon Anime, Manga, and Games being banned in Japan

Okay, Here's the rundown: Recently, a law was passed in Japan that banned Anime, Manga, and Games for virtual depictions of crime and other stuff. However, it didn't ban real-life depictions of crime and other stuff.

Here's the link to the article revealing this:

http://www.sankakucomplex.com/2010/12/13/tokyo-anime-manga-ban-passes/

This might need to be noted in the article, since there is a possibility that Pokémon might be affected. Weedle Mchairybug 13:24, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

Go ahead and write a draft one. If it's deemed important enough (which it probably will), it will be published. --SnorlaxMonster 00:28, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
First off, don't plagiarize. Second, how is Pokémon a virtual crime? What was banned pertains to video game depictions of real-life crimes, i.e. Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, etc. Pokémon, on the other hand, is in a fully alternate universe wherein the action is not a crime - plus, last I checked, no kid has been arrested for having a tadpole squirt water at a plant.--immewnitythemew 22:10, 18 December 2010 (UTC)
First of all, I didn't plagiarize, I actually cited my sources. Logic would dictate that if I cited my sources, I would not have been plagiarizing, as I gave credit to the person who wrote the article in the first place. Second of all, the point of the article was about how anime was going to be banned for not only things relating to virtual depictions of crime and other things, but also for stuff like sex and all that, trying to eliminate pornography. Heck this is an ongoing controversy in even the Anime Forums of PokéFriends. Plus, it is overall similar to animal fighting, anyways, which is a crime.
Well, in any case, its deleted. If anyone else wants to give it a shot, be my guest. Weedle Mchairybug 13:39, 20 December 2010 (UTC)
The deletion was due to this being based upon speculation. And, how does PokeFriends make anything more important?--immewnitythemew 13:43, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Gamerbase Tournament Removal?

Heya, I was just wondering why my submitted article about the fifth PokémonWorld-PokéCharms-Gamerbase tournament was removed when it was still a developing story? Considering how the articles for the last few tournaments have been allowed on, and the other developing story "Unconfirmed: Pokémon Black and White Europen release date confirmed!" is still up there; despite the title being a contradiction, the article containing no text and having no reliable sources. If it's an advertising issue, I would have understand if not for the earlier tournaments having their articles published. Besides, they're not Wi-Fi Tournaments - their RL, and although they're unofficial tournaments, the last two have received prize support from Nintendo (the point in the article about the main prize not being 100% confirmed is because although Gamerbase have stated it as a prize, the webmaster of PokémonWorld can't remember getting any confirmation from Nintendo about getting a DSi XL for this tournament). A bit broken

I dunno if anyone else can see this, but the front page is a bit broken. I think it may have something to do with the Swedish Celebi event article. Because it is just appearing as coding, could it be the {{p|Celebi}} in the blurb? Dion24 01:08, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Yes, that was likely it, and I've fixed it. The front page will update again in about seven minutes, so hopefully it'll be fixed then. 梅子 03:09, 11 February 2011 (UTC)

Mystery Egg distribution

Just wanted to note that the location note for the Mystery Eggs in the distribution events section should be changed to United States, not North America; for some retard reason, they're not doing this for Canada.--Mondoblasto 21:59, 28 May 2011 (UTC)

Question about the events section.

Under "On location," I think it should show what location the event is at (e.g. GameStop, Toys R Us, etc). This was a source of confusion for me on the Mystery Egg event. Pokered4000 19:54, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

I think that sounds like a good idea. --SnorlaxMonster 14:43, 6 August 2011 (UTC)

A small request

Can you please put a link to Bulbagraphic somewhere on the front page? Maybe under the "Things to do" section? I'm asking this because it gets very tedious to search Bulbagraphic in the search bar everytime and have to go through the results to get to the page and there's no link in the left hand toolbar. If I missed the link somewhere I apologize, I'm just suggesting this to make it a little easier to find. Thanks! Pokemaster97 02:28, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

I'll talk to Rex--I think we should have a link up by the time we officially release Issue 2. evkl 02:51, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Previous National Bulbagraphic Issues

After looking over this month's Bulbagraphic, I was suddenly reminded of an article in last month's issue that I wanted to read again which I wasn't able to find as I don't quite remember the actual title of the article in question. Is there currently any means to get last month's issue of the National Bulbagraphic? If not, will you be providing any means to make it easier to download previous versions of the National Bulbagraphic in the future?

Lauraac2110 19:54, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Hi Lauraac2110. The archived first version can be found here. I'll be setting up a navigation page in due time so that these articles are easier to find. Glad you're enjoying the NBG :) —darklordtrom 20:26, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Generic templates

Why is Bulbanews still using a lot of generic templates, unlike Bulbapedia and the Bulbagarden Archives? For example, the boxes on the left sidebar of the page and the tab-like buttons at the top of articles are using generic MediaWiki templates and not the Bulbagarden-style ones. The "Character palette:" template for editing posts is also inconsistent with Bulbapedia and the Archives. Can someone please fix that? It's because it looks inconsistent and out of place with the other Bulbawikis... Pokemon lover 11:33, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

No idea where else to mention this, and don't have time to write a draft, but just thought I'd mention that the Pokémon site is on hiatus. GoldenCelebi (talk) 17:07, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Image links

This category contains a multitude of articles whose images have been deleted or moved. Will they be fixed of left alone for archival purposes? --Abcboy (talk) 06:44, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

Basically, we don't want them, but it really isn't usually worth the time to fix them. They're old news articles that are very rarely read by anyone. And since only staff can edit Bulbanews articles, and staff are generally busy, they are likely to stay that way. --SnorlaxMonster 15:31, 22 November 2012 (UTC)

Pokémon X and Y in Korea before Japan

I won't normally do this but Bulbagarden forums doesn't seem to be working and I'm not sure how to make a new article here so I'll just post it here. The official Korean Pokémon website has announced that Korea will be able to play Pokémon X and Y (the same one as Japan) before Japan from the 17th of August. It will feature Mega Evolutions and Pokémon-amie. The exact times are 17/8/2013-18/8/2013 12:00 - 21:00 25/8/2013 12:00 ~ 21:00 31/8/2013 - 1/9/2013 12:00 ~ 21:00 It will be held at 서울특별시 강남구 삼성동 코엑스 몰 내 반디앤루니스 정문 앞 "Soeul City Gangnamgu Samseongdong Coex Hall in the front gate to Bandi & Luni's".--Wowy (talk) 11:42, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

To be clear, the announcement says nothing about being same one as the Japanese one. That was my own thought--Wowy (talk) 11:46, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
There are additional events going on/have been going on as well at the same place.

1. Events with Eevee, Special Event Part 3 "Find the Pokémon" 2. Pokémon gift in commemoration of the Pokémon World Championships 2013. They will be given Pokémon used by the Korean competitors:

  • 17/8/2013-18/8/2013: 12:00-18:00: Hitmontop (The same as that used by the winner of the Korean Junior division)

Lv. 55 OT 권도훈 Ability: Intimidate Moves: Fake out, Close Combat, Sucker Punch, Helping Hand Item: Fighting Gem

  • 24~25: Cresselia (Winner of Senior division)

Lv. 68 OT 사승헌 Ability: Levitate Moves: Ice Beam, Psyshock, Energy Ball, Hidden Power Item: Expert Belt

  • 31/8/2013 - 1/9/2013: Liepard (Master Division)

Lv. 20 OT 박세준 Ability: Prankster Moves: Fake Out, Foul Play, Ensore, Swagger Item: Dark Gem --Wowy (talk) 12:01, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

We've reported the WCQ event distribution previously, but haven't reported the demo or Eevee distribution yet. I'll make sure we get articles about these out. --SnorlaxMonster 13:06, 12 August 2013 (UTC)

New glitch in Emerald allows any Pokémon to be obtained.

Twitch streamer Werster, known for his Pokémon speedruns, has found a glitch in Emerald that allows you to obtain ANY Pokémon.

The videos of his discovery, in order are:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXGLIzPlOMQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1eT4LSacTr4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nOEwPnv2TFM

Each video builds on the previous, by the last one he managed to figure out enough about the glitch to use it to get any Pokémon (namely a Deoxys)

Given the significance of this glitch (a gen3 equivalent of the Mew glitch/Celebi egg glitch), should it be reported on? 1quacka1 (talk) 10:12, 14 May 2014 (UTC)

Newbie question

I've never submitted an article to Bulbanews and I don't think I have time to write, edit and submit one at this moment. Is there any way to submit news to be reported on to editors here so that a professional article can be written? I considered tweeting the news (specifically, the announcement of Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions http://www.pokemon.com/us/pokemon-news/pokemon-orchestral-concert-tour-announced/ ) to the Bulbanews account but wasn't sure if that was the right way to get the news to someone who could write an article. --AndyPKMN (talk) 18:37, 30 June 2014 (UTC)

That's one method to get a story idea to us, but you can also directly leave a message on the talk page of an active editor and we'll try to get one writter or pass it a long to someone who can get one written. Additionally, you can post in the Bulbawiki General forum on the Bulbagarden Forums, or send an e-mail to the editor at [email protected]. --Pokemaster97 21:11, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
