Heart-nosed bat

There is no Wikipedia article located at heart-nosed bat - instead it is located at Heart-nosed Bat (the 'H' is capitalized in the article). This means that your link is broken. --SnorlaxMonster 03:16, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Weirdly, it was actually the capital B that was breaking things...
Capitalising species names like that is bad nomenclature. Naughty Wikipedia... George Hutcheon 04:09, 6 March 2011 (UTC)

Swoobat correction

You mentioned you didn't know of a bat species that employs echolocations or calls during courtship. Well I do. The Hammerhead Bat (Hypsignathus monstrosus) is a very large species of African bat. Highly sexually dimorphic, the males have massive noses and lips which they use to make their honking mating calls.

Males try to attract females by hanging from tree branches, trumpetting, and vigorously flapping their wings. In some populations, the males gather in leks; in such situations, less than 10% of the males will mate with about 3/4 of the females.

Sounds like Swoobat to me :P --Joltikonyourdesk (talk) 01:59, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
