The official VGC rule document has been amended to accommodate the release of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

Previously, the rules had stated that only Masters Division players would be disqualified if their Battle Box failed a check for illegal Pokémon; this rule no longer specifies any particular division.

The rules now state that players may not intentionally tie a match not record a match as a tie without playing.

Section 9 has been amended to state that Pokémon and items obtained in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are legal for usage in VGC. However, for the rest of the year, players can only participate with Pokémon X and Y (not Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire); next year, all players must use Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire instead.

The term "Kalos native" has been replaced by "blue pentagon" to clarify that Pokémon obtained in the Hoenn region in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire also qualify for usage in VGC tournaments.
