Takkō Ishimori

Voice actor 石森達幸 Takkō Ishimori, who voiced several minor characters in the Pokémon anime, passed away on the morning of Wednesday June 5, 2013, aged 81. In the Pokémon anime, he portrayed Santa Claus, Benjamin, and the Gastly in The Ghost of Maiden's Peak.

Fellow anime voice actor Nobuyuki Kobushi broke the news on Twitter, commenting that "I really... Wanted to act more and more together, and I wanted to learn a lot more from him..."

Ishimori was perhaps best known for voicing the character Sengoku in One Piece. However, his diverse voice credits include anime (Yuu Isayama in Ga-rei: Zero; Gonzy in Eureka Seven), video games (Ranzō Fujibayashi in Tales of Phantasia; Bashful in Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep) and Japanese dubs of English-language movies (the Sorting Hat in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Grandpa Joe in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory).

A full list of Ishimori's roles can be found here.
