Voice actor Takkou Ishimori, who portrayed Santa Claus in the "Pikachu's Winter Vacation" OVAs, passed away on the morning of Friday 9th June, aged 81.

Fellow anime voice actor Nobuyuki Kobushi broke the news on Twitter, commenting that "I really... Wanted to act more and more together, and I wanted to learn a lot more from him..."

Ishimori was perhaps best known for voicing the character Sengoku in One Piece. However, his diverse voice credits include anime (Yuu Isayama in Ga-rei: Zero; Gonzy in Kôkyô shihen Eureka Sebun), video games (Ranzō Fujibayashi in Tales of Phantasia; Bashful in Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep) and dubs of English-language movies (the Sorting Hat in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Grandpa Joe in Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory).

A full list of Ishimori's roles can be found here.
