English names and further detail about information revealed in this month's CoroCoro has been released. Furthermore, information about addition type-based mechanics have been released.

Pokémon names

The English name of Haribōgu, Chespin's evolved form, is Quilladin. It is the Spiny Armor Pokémon. The hard spikes on its body are harder than Chespin's. It is gentle and avoids battle. It can learn Mud Shot.

The English name of Tērunā, Fennekin's evolved form, is Braixen. It is the Fox Pokémon. Unlike Fennekin, it does not eat branches, but it keeps one in its tail to calm itself. It occasionally takes its branch into battle, and uses friction to light it on fire. It can learn Psyshock.

The English name of Gekogashira, Froakie's evolved form, is Frogadier. It is the Bubble Frog Pokémon. It is better at jumping than Froakie, and jumps into trees during battle to confuse its opponents. It can learn Bounce.

Torimian's English name is Furfrou. Its Ability is Fur Coat and can learn the new move Baby-Doll Eyes (known in Japanese as Round Eyes). It can be groomed into one of several styles, and more are unlocked the more it is groomed; if left ungroomed for several days, its fur will grow long and shaggy, reverting it to its default look. It is very loyal, and in ancient times Furfrou guarded the king of Kalos.

Nyaonikusu's English name is Meowstic. It is the Constraint Pokémon. Its ears contain a large amount of psychic power, so it usually keeps them closed, but opens them when threatened. It avoids showing its emotions and tries to remain expressionless, but many Trainers love it for this. Male Meowstic are good at using support moves, while females are better at outright attacks.

Chigorasu's English name is Tyrunt. It is the Royal Heir Pokémon, and has the Ability Strong Jaw. It is restored from the Jaw Fossil. It can learn Dragon Tail and Crunch. It is believed to be over 100 million years old. It is quite selfish and often throws fits.

Amarusu's English name is Amaura. It is the Tundra Pokémon, and has the Ability Refrigerate. It is restored from the Sail Fossil. It can learn Aurora Beam. It is believed to be over 100 million years old.

Pyroar, the Royal Pokémon, has been revealed to have large gender differences: male Pyroar have a large mane, whole female Pyroar have a long ponytail hairstyle. Male Pyroar become the leader of the pride after evolution, while female Pyroar protect the group's young. It can have the Abilities Rivalry and Unnerve. It can learn Echoed Voice.

Character names and mechanical changes

Grass-type Pokémon are now immune to powder and spore moves. Ghost-type Pokémon are now immune to effects that prevent fleeing. Electric-type Pokémon are now immune to paralysis.

The English names of the Team Flare leading scientists are Celosia, Aliana, Bryony, Mable, and Xerosic. Celosia has purple hair, Aliana has orange hair, Bryony has green hair, and Mable has blue hair. Xerosic is the man with red goggles and hair.

Karune's English name is Diantha. She is a famous actress in the Kalos who trades Pokémon with the player at one point in the game.

Players can record Trainer PR Videos, which are 10-second videos of the player character and their Pokémon, in which the player can customize expressions, poses, background music, camera angles, among other things. Trainer PR Videos can be shared via the Player Search System.

When customizing appearance, players can choose from several preset styles, or use their own combination of a hat, shoes, and accessories.

Disconnecting from a Rating Battle online will now result in an automatic loss. There will be five types of Rating Battles: Single Battle, Double Battle, Triple Battle, Rotation Battle, and the new Special Battle. Special Battle will have different rules every three months; during the first season, Special Battles will be Single Battles with only Pokémon that were introduced in Generation VI. The first season is scheduled to begin in late December.

The Pokémon Global Link website will have a mobile-optimized version, and will have an advance opening on October 12, with the full version to follow later in the month.
