Pokémon.com has revealed information regarding the {{bp|Trading Card Game}} Modified Format for the 2011-2012 season. While the current format allows the use from {{bp|Majestic Dawn}} onwards, the new format will only allow cards from {{bp|HeartGold and SoulSilver (TCG)}} onwards.

Due to the recent rule changes following the release of the Black & White set, {{bp|The Pokémon Company International}} are considering launching this new format on July 1st instead of the usual September 1st, although a final decision will be made in June.

Additionally, The Pokémon Company International has sent an email to players in the United Kingdom to confirm the rules for their Nationals event on 29th May: For this event, the September 2010 format ({{bp|Majestic Dawn}} to {{bp|Call of Legends}}) will be used; although the Black/White set and rule changes will be legal at Battle Road events.
