European fan site PKMN.NET reports that, via translations of the CoroCoro Comic, the Kanto region will in fact be in the game.

Fans have been speculating if this will be included, due to Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen having the region, while the original Pokémon Gold and Silver included the region.
