Nintendo HK has announced that the 2016 Pokémon National Championships Hong Kong Video Game National Championships has been postponed. Details on the new schedule and site will be revealed in a later date
Reason for the postponement is not mentioned, but is likely related to a demonstration that occurred on May 31, 2016. On the same day as the protest, Nintendo HK released a statement concerning a potential postponement or cancellation of the upcoming championship.
The championship and the Shiny Mewtwo distribution event was originally scheduled to be held at iSQUARE on June 9, 2016. In addition, Nintendo HK will also be holding the Video Game National Championship in Taiwan, but has not made any similar statements concerning the Taiwanese tournament.
