A new trailer for Pokémon Sun and Moon has been released, which reveals a new Pokémon, new Ultra Beasts, two new Alola Forms, and exclusive Z-Moves for the fully-evolved Alola starter Pokémon.
The Z-Moves and mysterious black Pokémon were previously revealed in this month's CoroCoro Comic.
The image of a mysterious black Pokémon was revealed, but no details are given. Instead, Pokémon suggests that players find out in the game itself.
Alolan Diglett and Dugtrio are the Alola regional variants of Diglett and Dugtrio. They are both Ground/Steel. They can both can have either Sand Veil or the new Ability Tangling Hair as their Ability, which lowers the Speed of a Pokémon that makes contact with it by one stage.
It's said Alolan Diglett developed the hairlike metallic whiskers which grow from the top of their heads as a survival mechanism for the hostile volcanic environment.
Alolan Dugtrio's whiskers grow throughout its life at a very slow rate, shining with a brilliance akin to that of golden hair; in the Alola region, it is revered as an incarnation of the god of the land, and it's treated with great importance, and removing any of its whiskers is strictly prohibited. Alolan Dugtrio can be seen in the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Special Demo Version.
UB-03 Lighting is an Ultra Beast. It is shown using Discharge.
UB-05 Glutton is an Ultra Beast that has an astounding appetite, and will completely devour anything in front of its eyes. It's said that it devours not only objects, but the ground, rivers, and even the seas. There is a belief that it converts the abnormal amount it eats entirely into energy to sustain itself, leaving no waste product behind.
Each of the fully-evolved Alola starter Pokémon has an exclusive Z-Move.
Decidueye has the exclusive Z-Move Sinister Arrow Raid. Decidueye slices through the air together with a hail of arrow quills, crashing into the target before dealing the final blow with its arrows.
Incineroar has the exclusive Z-Move Malicious Moonsault. With flames spouting from its flame belt, Incineroar leaps high into the sky and dives straight down onto its target.
Primarina has the exclusive Z-Move Oceanic Operetta. Primarina manipulates a huge balloon using its voice, then causes it to explode over its target's head, dealing a lot of damage.
Additionally, further details are revealed about Z-Moves. Both attack moves and status moves can be turned into Z-Moves, but with very different effects. Z-Moves based on attack moves have greater power than regular moves, but the specific power of the move depends on the original move that was turned into the Z-Move, and hit through Protect and Detect but with reduced power. Z-Moves based on status moves power up the status move, providing additional effects such as raising its own stats or healing the next Pokémon to switch in.
A special QR Code for Magearna will be made available via the Pokémon TV app starting December 6 for PAL region games. No details on the availability of the Magearna QR Code for American region games have been announced.
This Magearna is level 50, holds a Bottle Cap, and knows the moves Fleur Cannon, Flash Cannon, Lucky Chant and Helping Hand. It is caught in a Cherish Ball and has a Wishing Ribbon.
Game-exclusive Pokémon have been revealed.
- Turtonator, Alolan Vulpix, and Passimian are exclusive to Pokémon Sun.
- Drampa, Alolan Sandshrew, and Oranguru are exclusive to Pokémon Moon.
