Junichi Masuda

Junichi Masuda, the director of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, said in his "Director's Column" feature of the Game Freak Web site Wednesday that he wants the games to allow players to play and communicate internationally via Wi-Fi.

He said such a feature has not yet been integrated into the games, but he intends to include it so that players can enjoy the games together regardless of their race or country. He confirmed the games are still far from being completed, but they will utilize all of the Nintendo DS's functions, including the touch screen, local wireless, two-screen and Wi-Fi capabilities.

Masuda has previously composed music for the Pokémon games. He has replaced Satoshi Tajiri as the director of the traditional Pokémon games since Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire were developed. Most notably, he designed the Hoenn region.
