The official Japanese Pokémon site has just confirmed the new Pokémon Ranger game seen in recent CoroCoro scans. The game 「ポケモンレンジャー 光の軌跡」 Pokémon Ranger: Tracks of Light will be released on March 6 for ¥4800.
Similar to Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia, this game features a new region, new playable characters and, once again, Professor Hastings and Murph. The new region 「オブリビア」 Oblivia is an archipelago that has various locations, including volcanoes, icy mountains and forests.
Players will take the role of a Pokémon Ranger who travels the region with a ukulele-carrying Pichu, following the orders of the Ranger Union. A new feature called 「レンジャーサイン」 Ranger Sign allows players to use the game's newly designed Capture Styler in order to call forth the assistance of certain Pokémon by drawing specific symbols. Among these include the legendary beasts Entei, Raikou and Suicune, which, along with Latios and Latias, appear to have important roles in the game.
The villains of the game are known as the Pokémon Nappers; however, their goal is currently unknown. Along with new villains, the game will offer a new set of missions and optional quests that players may fulfill in order to gain rewards. Poké Assist and Field Moves also return. This time, players may combine the Field Moves of several Pokémon in order to clear one target.
Pokémon Ranger: Tracks of Light will be the first Ranger game to have a multiplayer mode, in which up to four players may take on missions together. Through Ranger Net, players may once again download missions via Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. A mission in this game allows players to capture a Deoxys in-game, somewhat like in the first Ranger game. Unlike the first game though, this Deoxys may later be transfered to the Generation IV games Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver, following Manaphy, which was available in the first two games, and Riolu and Darkrai, which were available in the second game. This mission will be available for download from March 6 to May 17.
