3DS software gets surprise release after delay

Pokémon Bank, the 3DS software that allows online storage of Pokémon, plus transfer of pre-Gen VI Pokémon via Pokémon Transporter, has appeared on the 3DS eShop in Europe and Australia. The free trial will be available until March 14, 2014 to use for 30 days and after that Pokémon Bank will cost £4.49 per year in the UK, €4.99 per year in Europe and $6.50 per year in Australia.

The software was originally scheduled for launch around Christmas 2013, but after release in some parts of Asia extremely high traffic brought Nintendo's servers down and caused the software to be removed from the eShop in regions it had been released in, with the release postponed for all other regions.

On January 22, 2014, Pokémon Bank returned to the eShop in the Asian regions that had already seen a release. Today's release in PAL territories leaves North America as the only major region still awaiting the software.
